Lyricist Irshad Kamil: Romeo Of Romance
An inexhaustible songwriter and scriptwriter who have had the experience of trying out various vocations before jumping headlong into the world of music, Irshad Kamil indeed rocketed the skies with fame through his outstanding lyrics of “Chameli” which brought a lot of fame for him.
‘Main Teri Parchhain Hoon’, ‘Sanjeevani’, ‘Kartavya’ and ‘Chhoti Ma’ were the serials for which the scripts were written by none other than Kamil who also has worked as a reporter in Chandigarh dailies, including The Tribune n Indian Express group from where on he set his might to thrust himself into the world of Bollywood and moved to Mumbai.
Sholon Si from Shabd and Tinka Tinka from Karam are some other works which are quite memorable of Irshad apart from Chameli, his “Le Le Ja” from album ‘Ustad & Divas’ is immortal. Having worked with the biggest music directors of today, namely Pritam Chakraborty, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Himesh Reshammiya, Vishal – Shekhar and Sandesh Shandilya, it is indeed a matter of pride that his most recent work on the Saif and Deepika starrer, Love Aaj Kal, and Ranbir-Katrina starer Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani has become a booming and reverberating success indeed.
His superb hits such as Ajj Din Chadeya, Twist, Dooriyan, Aahun Aahun, from LOVE AAJ KAL and Tum Se Hi, Mauja Hi Mauja, Nagada Nagada Nagada Baja and Aao Milo from JAB WE MET with music director Pritam do require a special mention and applause.

You have got amazing talent. I am really impressed with your songs in Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani. I do hope that you will continue writing such nice songs for years to come. Now a das there are hardly any song that we can remember after coming out of the theater. It requires soulful lyrics. Many congratulations…!!! Hope to hear more and more touching songs.
Gud lyrics with gud music is the soul of any film.. Without song the film is no more..
Milke bhi hum na mile
Tumse hi
Aaj din chaddhya
All r examples of this..
The output in these songs seems to be own experience of common man.. So hoping for more gud songs in coming time which touches heart…
Wish you always– many many more more — superhit songs and awards 🙂
when i heard the lyrics for the song”chor bazari” from LAK, i stood up from the chair. what the brilliant words for a required situation!.I, really amazed by you. Then i heard the song” Aaj din chadhiyea”. Again you surprised me. Now i m ur fan. Really Urdu has a great role in the songs of indian cinema and a writer like you proves it every now and then. I also like one more thing in your songs, you mostly avoid repetative romantic words.
Among my other favourite is “Tum se HI” from JWM.
Aamer
Kaise Batayen kyo tuzako chahe from APGK is best song of you. Many times I have listened it ,its both version, sung by Atif and Kailash Kher, each time I have explored its various shades.keep writing dude..!
